Body

Taking personal responsibility for the body that God has given us requires action! Are you willing and ready to make changes that are required for you to enjoy a longer, healthier, happier, and more functional life???

The body we were given upon birth with all its imperfections will change, grow, falter, malfunction, and transform throughout our lifetime. With or without medical disease, our choices and habits will shape our physical existence for good or bad.

“If you don’t take care of your body, how can your body take care of you?” ~ MarieT. Freeman

As an overcomer of several medical diagnosis, and a warrior living with many medical conditions, I know how easy it can be to slip into the “why me”, hopelessness, or blaming of others for our circumstances. The excuses we can tell ourselves or the black hole we can spiral downward to will not bring life! The truth is, we are our best and truest advocate! We must fight for our life and take action.

Our physical bodies require so much more than just a few steps. Yes, we owe it to ourselves to be in tune with our medical imbalances and not run from them. We also require sleep for recovery, clean nutrition for energy, flexibility for mobility, cardio for our heart health, strength for functional living, and the ability to touch what we are feeling with love for healing.

Our bodies were designed to communicate to us. By addressing our emotions and bodily symptoms, we are to: listen to them, touch them with love, honor them, and welcome their divinity. Our symptoms are merely a dis-ease within our bodies crying out for help. I am not saying it is an easy process to discover, treat, or heal. However, it is a different perspective I encourage us all to look through! The ancient Greeks believed that all ailments of the body were really cures for the soul. And whatever cured the soul was the fundamental and necessary medicine for the body. (The Slow Down Diet) So, as we explore this perspective, may we seek and find a solution through our bodily symptoms.

The older we get, our bodies naturally will begin to age with us. As a female, more importantly, our hormones can cause havoc upon our total wellbeing. Women, do not be scared to lift weights! You will not become manly. When we strength train, we will not only strengthen our muscles, we will also strengthen our bones and connective tissues. This is necessary for mobility to us all and to prevent atrophy as we get older.
